The Lord is my Shepherd

This setting of Psalm 23 was written as a companion piece to The Lord’s Prayer at the suggestion of my friend, contralto Heidi Skok, who has started to explore both operatic and popular repertoires. My challenge was to create a hymn that was appropriate for a liturgical setting, yet appealing in an easy-going, tuneful manner.

The result was recorded by soprano Lisa Daehlin to a Logic track created by the composer.

This setting of “Our Father” was created for my friend Heidi Skok, who has enjoyed an illustrious career as an operatic soprano (appearing at venues like the Metropolitan Opera, among others) – and has recently started to rediscover both her voice and her faith as a pop contralto….She just gained first place in the 2022 Music International Grand Prix Competition as the Semi-Finalist in the Adult Voice Popular category with her rendition of the prayer.
